Hadrians Wall, Northumberland
Terry Deary the author of the very popular “Horrible Histories” children’s books during a stop at Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland.
I was asked by the National Trust if I would be available to photograph Terry during his sponsored run, Terry was running the length of the wall some 130 miles or so for the charity “Integrating Children”….. the shoot was to include Melanie Hill, actress who appeared in many shows including later episodes of Bread staring as Aveline. Unfortunately Melanie couldn’t make it on the day.
Below is a small selection from the photo shoot on Hadrian’s wall, Northumberland.

The Robin Hood Tree came about when it was used as a setting in Kevin Costner’s “Robin Hood Prince of Thieves” in fact about the first twenty minutes of the film was shot from this location, (or so I believe). It has to be said however that Sherwood Forest is a good 160 miles from here and therefore very unlikely that Robin Hood ever visited this area. I have passed this tree on a couple of occasions and although it’s well set back and a good walk from the road, it stands tall and proud, extremely hard to miss, even when driving past. Set along Hadrian’s Wall (itself some 73 miles long) surrounded by hills, lakes and Roman remains, there really is an immense awe about this place which is steeped in history.
